So excited to welcome my longtime friend and creative collaborator Ramsess to the Legacy Quilts and Art Etsy shop! Ramsess is a Los Angeles-based, award-winning artist celebrated for his quilts, stained glass, mosaic and pen-and-ink drawings focused on the African American experience. So pleased to offer his popular greeting cards with images of his stunning work!
I met Ramsess when I was an undergrad at the University of Southern California and we both volunteered as counselors for a summer camp that took children from the city to the mountains. While still working overnight in the pressroom of The Los Angeles Times, Ramsess developed a passion for photography and cartooning Since then, I have witnessed all the various phases of his work, which includes a special focus on jazz music and artists. All along the way, he has created reproductions of his work on cards and calendars and I have written biographical information for some of those immortalized by his art. Now, many decades after I first met Ramsess, it is a marvel of life that his varied work and my varied work intersects at the point of quilting. And it is awesome for both of us to be in collaboration with Acres of Ancestry, a rooted, culture-based ecosystem to support art and artists.
